Fueling Portland’s Next Generation of Athletes

The PDX Momentum Project helps young athletes stay in the game by removing financial barriers — providing scholarships, equipment, and community support for kids across Southeast Portland.

Our Mission

Every kid deserves the chance to play. The PDX Momentum Project connects families, schools, and local partners to ensure that cost never stands in the way of opportunity.

From covering club fees to supplying new gear, we’re helping youth athletes build confidence, friendships, and a lifelong love of sport..

How We Help

  • Scholarships

Financial aid for registration and club fees so every athlete can participate.

  • Equipment Access

Providing quality gear - from cleats and bats to uniforms and pads.

  • Community Partnerships

Working with Portland schools and sponsors to reach more families.

Our Story…

The PDX Momentum Project was founded by Colin Kruse, a student at Cleveland High School and lifelong Portland athlete.

Colin grew up attending Abernethy Elementary and Hosford Middle School, where sports quickly became a big part of his life — and his family’s.

From early days on the baseball diamond to his current focus on basketball, athletics have shaped his friendships, confidence, and sense of community.

Recognizing how fortunate he’s been to have the support, gear, and resources needed to compete at a high level, Colin wanted to make that same opportunity available to others.

Through the PDX Momentum Project, he hopes to give every kid — regardless of financial background — the chance to play, grow, and find their own momentum through sports.

“I started PDX Momentum Project because I believe every kid deserves the chance to play - not just the ones who can afford it.” - Colin Kruse, Founder
